What Happens in Mediation? A Clear, No-Stress Walkthrough

If you’ve never mediated before, it’s normal to feel nervous. Mediation is a structured, confidential process designed to help you reach an agreement without the stress, cost, and uncertainty of trial.

In mediation, I’m not a judge and I don’t take sides. My role is to guide the conversation, keep it productive, and help you work toward a settlement that both of you can live with. We identify the issues, exchange needed information, and work through options—step by step.

Mediation can cover timesharing and parenting plans, child support, alimony, property division (marital and non-marital), and post-decree modifications. If emotions are high, that’s okay—mediation is designed to handle difficult dynamics while staying focused on solutions.
